The Sólheimasandur Plane Wreck is the haunting and photogenic remains of a US Navy Douglas DC-3 aircraft that crash-landed on the black sand beach in South Iceland in 1973. Miraculously, all crew members survived, and the wreckage was left behind, creating a surreal and iconic landmark against the stark volcanic landscape.
