Ardessie Falls
Waterfall Highland, Scotland
About Ardessie Falls
Ardessie Falls is a series of around six waterfalls on the Allt Airdeasaidh, a burn that tumbles down the lower slopes of the An Teallach mountain range near Dundonnell in Wester Ross. The lowest fall is already visible from the road bridge on the A832, and a short walk — roughly 500 metres — takes you alongside the stream to the rest, with individual drops ranging from about four to twelve metres. The path is steep, frequently boggy, and eroded in places, so waterproof boots are genuinely necessary rather than just advisable. As you climb, the view opens up behind you across Little Loch Broom and toward the jagged ridgeline of An Teallach. After heavy rain the falls run hard and fast; in drier spells they're quieter but the surroundings are just as good. There's no real historical angle here — this is purely about the landscape, and it delivers.
