Falls Of Falloch
Waterfall Stirling, Scotland
About Falls Of Falloch
The Falls of Falloch sits on the River Falloch just off the A82, about 5 km southwest of Crianlarich, inside the northern section of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. The river drops around 10 metres in a single plunge through a heavily wooded gorge, and after a good spell of rain it becomes noticeably more forceful and loud. The deep pool at the base is traditionally known as Rob Roy's Bathtub — a nod to the folk hero associated with this part of Scotland. Dorothy Wordsworth and Samuel Coleridge visited the falls during their 1803 tour of Scotland, and early 19th-century writers and painters were clearly fond of the spot too. It also sits along the West Highland Way, so walkers passing through sometimes stop here. Getting there is easy — a well-worn path from the car park takes about five minutes. The falls tend to impress most in autumn and winter when the river runs high, but the surrounding woodland has its own appeal in summer.
